Benedetta Belà

Benedetta Belà was born in San Benedetto del Tronto (AP) on 10/31/1985, graduated with honors in Biological Sciences from the University of Camerino on 10/12/2015 with an experimental thesis entitled “Assessment of changes in gut microbiota composition of rats fed on Cafeteria diet” where the effects of a high-fat diet on the intestinal microbiota of rats were evaluated; the study examined changes occurring at the level of the intestinal microflora in animal models with metabolic dysfunction induced by high-calorie density diets
to gain a closer understanding of the relationship between gut bacteria and the genesis of obesity. The months of pre-graduation internships further heighten the interest in microbiology, the study of the composition of the human and animal microbiota, the factors that influence it, and the use of new laboratory techniques to be able to analyze it.
On 06/26/2020, she received the degree of PhD in Veterinary Medical Sciences, Public Health and Animal Welfare (cycle XXXII) from the University of Teramo with a thesis entitled “Effect of different nutraceutical products on the intestinal microbiota of healthy adult dogs and production of short-chain fatty acids”; during the doctoral period, he participated in several seminars and conferences including “Animal and human gut microbiome” at the University of Teramo, “Food and nutraceuticals: Quality and consumer health” and “Food innovation: between antibiotic resistance and food packaging” at the University of Camerino.
Has held a one-year research grant aimed at the experimental study for the isolation and characterization of new probiotic strains for use
in dog and/or cat nutrition at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Teramo.
She participated in the 23rd Congress of the European Society of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition (ESVCN) with the poster presentation “Effects of Carobin Pet Ultra® on the canine intestinal microflora and production of short-chain fatty acids” and also in the 73rd SISVET conference with the oral communication of the paper “Effects of Ribes Pet Symbio® on the canine intestinal microflora and production of short-chain fatty acids.”
Author and coauthor of several articles published in leading scientific journals and others forthcoming.
