Immunosenescence is an age-related change in the immune system characterized by a reduction in nonspecific T cells and reduced proliferative capacity of CD8+ T cells in older individuals. Recent research has revealed thecrucial impact of immunosenescence and aging on cancer development and control, and consequently on reducing the therapeutic efficacy of cancer immunotherapies aimed at CD8+ T-cell activation.
