A review from China in 2020 summarizes current knowledge on the role of L. reuteri in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which is characterized by chronic inflammation of the intestine of unknown etiology. The main clinical symptoms of IBD are abdominal pain, diarrhea and hematochezia, which seriously impair patients’ quality of life.
